It’s an incredible and vibrant time of year in Boulder and in Colorado, in general. Adventures abound in Colorado in summertime where you can enjoy Colorado cycling trips, float trips, fly fishing, horseback riding, trail running and so much more – all very close to Boulder. One of the biggest benefits of the season is the opportunity to view one of Colorado’s most stunning treasures – Colorado’s wildflowers.
Cycling can be an incredible way to see flowering trees, shrubs, flowering grasses and nearby blooms. At Your Pace’s Beyond Boulder Guided Bike Trail Ride will take you past plenty of blooms from incredible flowering planters in town to natural flowering trees and blooms, depending upon time of year. One of the best ways to experience the abundance of Colorado’s wildflowers is to combine a longer bike ride, or even a short drive, and a hike. Within a bike ride or short drive from Boulder, many options for viewing are about to spring to life. Enjoy wildflowers generally from mid-June to mid- or late- July.
Some of the area favorite hikes to include with a bike ride or drive include:
• Boulder Open Space & Parks: look for the most flowers at the edge of grasslands and forest, especially as you get into the foothills. Within a 15 minute drive or short bike ride, enjoy the colorful hikes of Shadow Canyon Trail or Bear Peak Trail off Mesa Trail
• Just a little further – a day bike trip or about an hour drive you’ll find the Arapaho Pass Trail, the Fourth of July Valley and the Indian Peaks Wilderness
• Rocky Mountain National Park includes an abundance of wildflower viewing options. Though a little further still, it’s worth the trip, featuring trails like the East Inlet Trail, the Cub Lake Trail, and the trail between Bear Lake and Dream Lake. The Park also has Guided Tundra Walks with Rangers through the Alpine Visitors Center at the top of Trail Ridge Road. Check their website for times.
Or, maybe it suits you more to arrange a custom Blooms & Bikes Tour through At Your Pace Freestyle Cycling Adventures. With this seasonal option, you can choose the ability level, length of time and general area you’d like to see, and At Your Pace Guides can help you find the maximum blooms and wildflower viewing to complement your trip.
